The Doula Experience, LLC, dba The PreNeed Doula, was started to address several critical gaps and challenges in end-of-life care. I saw a need for a more inclusive, compassionate approach to death doula and end-of-life services, especially for underrepresented groups. The organization was designed with a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), aiming to make these services accessible and culturally relevant to diverse populations.
The mission extends beyond basic care; The Doula Experience seeks to foster a greater understanding and acceptance of the dying process, supporting people with both emotional and practical guidance. I recognized the importance of breaking down barriers to these services, whether they stem from geographic, financial, or systemic issues within healthcare, which often focuses on life-extension over holistic end-of-life support.
Through personalized services, community education, and specialized support for vulnerable groups like children, The Doula Experience aims to address the widespread disconnect between people’s preferences for end-of-life care and the reality many face—often passing in medical facilities rather than at home. This initiative was built to honor these personal desires, create space for honest conversations about death, and improve access to dignified, person-centered care.
After dedicating 19 years to the funeral industry and working as an insurance agent for three of those years, I realized the need to make a positive impact. My mission is to ensure that individuals and families understand the significance of planning for end-of-life, allowing for informed decisions "Pre" the time of actual "Need."
I carry the torch of my dad's memory, using it to light the way for others in their most vulnerable and darkest hours. In doing so, I keep my father's memory alive, honoring him in the most meaningful way possible—by helping others.
Sincerest Regards,
Tammara Coleman
